The Government of Canada has released its list of Top Canadian Heroes as selected by Canadians. A series of online surveys performed by the Department of Heritage in preparation for Canada’s 150th birthday next year released a not so surprising list of “Top Canadian Heroes”
Medicare Makes Canadians Proud
The survey also asked what Canadian accomplishments you were most proud of. The top three. Medicare, Peacekeeping and the 1982 Charter of Rights and Freedoms. Liberals were responsible for bringing all of these things to Canadians.
It was Liberal Prime Minister Lester Pearson who is credited with helping create the UN Security Force that lead to modern day peacekeeping.
A Liberal government also brought Canadian’s public health care after Saskatchewan lead the way in the 60s.
It was also a Liberal Government that gave Canadians the Charter of Rights and Freedoms in 1982.
